I've recently downloaded PowerBI as part of a project to create a dashboard for the trading team which will hold key at a glance statistics. The data which is populating the PowerBI tiles is imported from excel. However, this data in excel self updates as part of a VBA. Is there a way to have the data in PowerBI update as well once there has been a change to the excel file?
If that is not an option, are there any RTD functions in PowerBI which could perhaps provide an alternative solution?
you can try Microsoft Flow
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-flow-integration
other than that I'd just try to rebuild whatever Excel is doing in PowerBI and scheduling the continuous refresh there
Thanks, so these are the most viable ways to do it? I will have a look at flow as it certainly seems the more appropriate fit. Is there no VBA functionality whatsoever in PowerBI?
no VBA, there is REST API though
