Hi all,
Currently I'm calculating the costs for my organization for using Power BI embedded functionality in our own applications.
I must be honost; the costs are a shock to me and I want to verify wheter I understand it correctly.
We want to embed a Power BI dashboard that contains 6 visuals and it needs to be realtime (so I make the assumption that it will refresh (render) every second).
Here's my calculation:
Is this the correct calculation? Or did I misunderstood the pricing model?
Power BI embedded currently only supports reports, and reports do not update in real-time as only dashboards have that ability at the moment.
This means the costs for embedded reports will be much lower, since the user will have to manually refresh the report or perform some other action to cause invalidation in order for you to be charged. However that may mean that the embedded feature isn't currently suitable for your needs given that you wanted a real-time dashboard. Please vote for the idea in the link below if you would like support for the feature:
Given that dashboards function slightly differently to reports, if we implement the functionality for embedding dashboards we can look into ways to avoid astronomical costs like the ones in your calculations.
We don't need to refresh dashborad every second. You can either create a real-time Power BI dashboard with Power BI REST APIs, or import Real-Time Stream Analytics data.
