Power BI datasets/ possible to modify

Good day dear Power BI friends,

in Power BI desktop, under the button 'get data', we have the option to choose for a 'power BI dataset'.

If I want to modify this dataset for my new dashboard, is this possible?

in my case I want to change a filter in one of the tables in the Power Query editor.

However, it is not possible to go to the editor as the 'edit query' butto is grey (disabled).

Thanks for your reply!

John

@jwi1

you can update the dataset stored in PowerBI service, or perhaps remove this filter altogether from the dataset in the power bi service and then in your report you place a report level filter based on your scenario (valid or invalid)

HI Team,

Once we open the power bi desktop file thenclick on GetData-->Power BI Datasets-->Under Workspace-->Report Usage Metrics Model.

We will get some defualt tables related to metrics i,e ex: Dates,DistributionMethods,Platforms,Reports,ReportCount,ViewersRankings,Views and ViewsRanking.

Here i am not able to see the relationship between those entities and everything is getting disable like our direct query tabular model. Please let me know how can i get the relationship and shource table becuase i want to add two more tables there in that model .Please suggest.

Hi @jwi1

unfortunately this is not possible, this is the same connecting live to a SSAS Tabular model. What kind of filter do you need to apply?

Hi @LivioLanzo

Thanks for your reply!

In the table, I have a column in whcich is defined if the row is valid or not (1 = valid - 2 is invalid)

in the table I added a filter, only the valid rows are shown.

is it maybe possible to adjust the  filter in the original file, after which it will become automatically valid in the 'new' file set as well?
