Hi

I have created some reports using Power BI desktop and Published those as a Web Page from Power BI service. My source is SharePoint. I want to schedule refresh of Power BI data from source SharePoint in every 2 hours. How to achieve this ?

Thanks for your quick response !!

I have navigated as per your directions and when I clicked on "Another Time" option, it is just allowing me to add another time and I am not getting how to make that work to refresh every 2 hours.

There are 2 possibilities of what you are asking here.  Both start by finding the "Dataset" in the workspace you have published the report to.  There is a menu associated with the data set which has a button for "Schedule Refresh"  Capture.PNG.  This will take you to a screen that will let you choose how to connect to your data source and let you select the times to refresh.  If you want it every 2 hours, you will need to pick times 2 hours apart.

Here is where things might differ:

  1. If you are using SharePoint online as part of Office 365.  Power BI will be able to connect directly, which you will see in the "Gateway Connection"
  2. If you are using an On Premise SharePoint, the Office 365 cloud won't have any immedate method of making a connection from the Microsoft Cloud network into your companies network.  This is where you need to download and install the "On Premise Data Gateway" onto a server to set up a connection that bridge that gap.  You then configure under "Manage Gateways" the individuals connections that are authorised and that will allow your gateway to be selectable.

Thanks for your reply !!

We are using SharePoint online as part of Office 365. Do you have any documentation (on-line resource) on how to set up this ? Would you mind sharing the same.

Its as simple as finding the dataset in the workspace (either on the left hand menu or from within the summary screen).

If you used the left hand menu, find the ... menu and select "Schedule Refresh". \

If you are using the summary screen, press the icon i used in my reply.

When you are taken to this screen, since you are using Office 365, it will connect directly, you can simply toggle on under "Scheduled Refresh" and press the "Add Another Time" to add each time in.

Thats all there is too it.

You have to set each of the times.  There is no "every 2 hours". You have to pick 12 different times, 2 hours apart.
