Power BI Template and Parameter help

Hi guys,

I am trying to create a template that is essentially a balance sheet. It has a lot of basic calculations, i.e. Gross Sales/lb and I want to be able to open the template, and use it with different querys. That way, I don't have to manually create the calculations and report every time I want to view a different set of data.

I have read everything on the Microsoft Website, and watched everything about this subject on youtube and am still stuck.

Is there a way to do this using parameters and a template? If so, how? Please help.

Hi @bigspikemike,

I have found some useful posts in the community. Please reference here: How-to-create-a-template-with-a-different-data-source-every-time. One tip: the data source should have the same name, e.g. the table name in a workbook.

If i'm understanding you correctly, can't you just change the Source of your data to a new file (and as long as all the columns are the same) power BI after a Refresh should update everything based on the new values in the new file?
