In my table i have a region, district and territory, and I setup 3 slicers, one for each.
I setup the interactions, so region does not listen to district or territory, so it will always show all values. I did similar for the district as well.
If my data has this
REGION, DISTRICT, TERRITORY
A,AA,AAA
A,AA,AAB
B,BB,BBB
B,BB,BBC
if i select A in region, the district box will correctly show just the AA and territory will correctly show AAA and AAB
Assuming i check AAB, my grid reflects the data correctly. This is all good.
Where it goes bad, is if i then choose B in the region box, the districts will reflect the BB values, but the original AA is still selected even though it is unavailable. The grid will also just be empty.
is there a way to have a slicer automatically deselect any unavailable items? I have tried to create a measure that checks if the record exists, which works, it knows when the record exists or not, and i added that as a filter to slicer to only include records that exist using that measure, but it wont remove the selected value, even when its not available.
I cant use the hiearchy slicer either because i need to be able to choose only 1 region or only 1 district or only 1 territory. the hiearchy slicer selects all below it in the hiearchy, even with single select chosen.
Hi, @Anonymous
Based on my research, there is no direct way to achieve your requirement. The selectable value of a slicer changes with the context, but the selected value can't change automatically.
If you choose 'AA' for 'District' and then choose 'B' for 'Region', they will have a filter effect on other charts. Slicers will not cancel selected values. If you don't have 'Edit Interaction' closed, you can cancel 'AA' before you choose 'B'. You have 'Edit Interaction' closed and then there won't be interaction. You can't make 'Destrict' changed when 'Region' is modified as 'B'.
As a workaround, you may use bookmark to cancel the selection. For further information, please refer to the following link.

Create the hierarchy in the order you want and try

i had tried the hiearchy. it did not change how the slicer reacted.
