Power BI PushStreaming Dataset gives "Couldn't load the model schema" error

I'm using Power BI desktop to create a report from a Power BI PushStreaming Dataset that was created via REST API. The dataset is very simple, it has 3 fields in one table, and the report only has a Card visualization. It sometimes works, but I keep getting an error: 'Couldn't load the model schema'; and 'An error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source'. After that, Power BI Desktop has to be closed and restarted. Why do I get this error and how do I fix it?

It seems that you are connecting to Power BI Service dataset in Power BI Desktop, could you please share Power BI trace log here? You can enable tracing under File->Options and Settings->Options->Diagnostics.
