Power BI Pro or Free

Hi,

If I want to have my database in xls located on company SharePoint, do I need Power BI Pro or free version is enough. Once per day refresh and 10K lines would be enough for my case. Also I would like to know if I create reports/dashboards with Power BI Pro is it necessary  for my users to have a licence also, or it’s enough only from my side to share dashboards with them?.

Pro is only required for other users if the report/dashboard uses Pro features like RLS, etc.

Since you data is in the cloud (assuming SharePoint Online) then you should not need a Pro license for that. Definitely if it is in One Drive but SharePoint Online should also be the case since that should use the Service's Cloud Gateway versus an On Premises gateway.

Hi,

so if I'm using free version I'm able anyway to share my dashboards to my people - Only thing I can't do is to use special roles as RLS, but I can set basic role for the users (can view, can edit).

If these Excel files are located on SharePoint Online, you don't need Gateway, then Power BI Free license is enough since you just need to refresh 10K rows/day. When sharing dashboards/reports to other users, if your dashboards/reports contains Pro content, it will require Pro license for accessing users. You can set "Can View" (no "Can Edit") for other users.
