Power BI Licensing

Hello Community!!

We have built one powerbi analytical solution for client. Now we need to restrict the number of users to use the PowerBI desktop .pbix file. We would like to assign some licenses and only those users should be able to use the .pbix files. 

This functionality we need with free version of PowerBI Desktop.

Please let us know if this is Possible

@dia612 , Licensing is for publishing the report in Power BI service.

To share a pbix file, you don't need any license. 

You can share the file with only specific person you want to.

If you just want to share the pbix file, you do not require any licences. Power BI licences only needed in Power BI Service.

You can only share the pbix by just sending it to others like sending other documents via email or teams or other communicating tools. And counting the users opening this pbix is not a supported feature.

Thank you for responding.

We would like to share the desktop file to the clients and would like to limit number of users opening it.

If we can capture the data like how many users are opening the .pbix file , who they are and also for how much period of time.. it would really help.

Is there any way we can get this data for .pbix file??
