Power BI Licenses for sharepoint as well?

Hi All,

In our firm we do not have Power BI Service license for all. Everyone have access to our company's sharepoint site. We created a page and embedded the power bi report. When the users who do not have power bi service license who access the sharepoint site get a message" content not available". Can someone please explain how thisworks? We cannot provide licenses to everyone in our company, the report is for just viewing only. Can someone please advice on what we are supposed to do?

Also how can we find out who all have licenses, when we click on share we can see all users email, this is very confusing , when we can see the users in the list when we click on share , why cannot they access the report.

Please need help.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

As the online document.

Requirements of Embeing with report web part in SharePoint Online

For Embed in SharePoint Online reports to work, the following is required:

To Publish to web should be a way to work around but it is not recommended. When you use Publish to web, anyone on the Internet can view your published report or visual. This requires no authentication and includes viewing detail level data your reports aggregate. Before publishing a report, make sure it is okay for you to share the data and visualizations publicly. Do not publish confidential or proprietary information. If in doubt, check your organization's policies before publishing.

Ran into the same problem. Everyone who wants to access a published report on Sharepoint must have a license. The only work around I know of is to share the .pibx file (either via email or posting it on sharepoint). The users will then have to save the file to their computer and utilize the free version of power bi (Power BI Desktop). I created regular cadences in which I would upload updated pbix files once a week/month.

Thats next to stupid (sorry for using that). Ours is a manufacturing firm. Workers at the plant level just need to view the report, they neither have the time nor the knack to do that . Each workstation will have thissharepoint page open and the report to be seen, really disappointed that power bi doesnt do some basic stuff.

Thanks for the advice nroy, but wont work in our scenario.
