Power BI Graph Date Issues

I am having a heck of a time understanding why this isn't working. I have a measure that calculates a value for a time period. I am graphing that in a chart month over month. So I have a filter that fitler the last 6 months. In the 1st graph it shows the result, but you see I am missing March, which is 0, but i want to see a 0 there. However, if I check Show Items with no Data, it solves it but also shows all previous and futrure dates, regardless of the filter slicer.

I tried adding +0 to the measure, which works for March, but it displays all the previosu month outside of the filter for some reason. This is pretty frustraining....

Past 6 month...

This is with show items with no data / with the +0 in the measure. As you can see, the date slicer only affects which dates have data on them, not which dates get displayed.

The only way I have gotten it to work is using the hieharchy in the date slicer, but that it no good because I need the date to be dynamic. As you can see below, adding a relative filter on the visual will not affect it.Pic3.png

In all this seems to be an issue with hiearchy that I cannot figure out. Appreciate any help.

This worked. I made a tweak so that only the selected dates would return a 0, all else would show blank.
