Power BI Filled Map

Hi,

How can I make a filled map for India at a state level? I want to color the Indian states by a certain metric.

Thanks in advance,

Chirag

Hi Shirag,

Assuming you have activated the 'ShapeMap' preview feature from desktop Options.

You need a ShapeFile for India which I have attached, sourced from here:

https://github.com/deldersveld/topojson/blob/master/countries/india/india-states.json

Change the default map options to upload the json.InidaJSON.PNG

You need to map you data to the Indian States in the shape file

I believe you can then your drag your data to the colour saturation section and it should work.

I don't have your data to add to the Power BI file  but I have created the file for India shown.

Hi Chirag,

Further to your PM (reply would not send )

You might need to prepare your data a certiin way. See this example here from the Power BI site
I attached another Power BI file with an additional excel spreadsheet showing the coloured states.
Download: IndianStates2

In the spreadsheet  where is says ObjectID you can add your values and try this. Then refresh this.
ISO Spreadhset:  ISO India Excel File

Also use some further mapping information here:

The link is in data model back end but I think you will need to investigate further to prepare your data as shown in the USA example.
If you can send a small sample of your data please do so I can attempt to to create. I cannot promise I will succeed though.

Thanks.

Hi, Awsome it worked.

If there is a update, I hope you would add lakshadweep Islands, split Andra Pradesh to Telangana & Andra Pradesh, and split Jammu and Kasmir to Ladakh & Jammu and Kasmir.

Thank you for this.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your help! This works but now the only issue is that the JSON file seems to be old since a couple of Indian states are not covered in this file and the shape of Kashmir is also not as per the Indian Map. I will try and find an updated version of this Json file.

Thanks again for your help!

Regards,

Chirag

Did you find any updated version?

could use one thanks..
