Power BI Desktop reconnection to Oracle DB

Hello,

 This might be very basic.

From options and settings I can make a connection to Oracle DB from Power BI desktop.

I am still trying to find how do I reconnect once connection is dead?

I usually close power BI desktop and reopen the file.

Sometimes when I try to refresh previously opened report , it says connection errors  and tells me you have to reconnect to Oracle. If I close and reopen power BI desktop it reconnects and refresh with latest date.

My confusion here is if I left my session open for 6-7 hrs and data base is disconnnected, is there a way to reconnect without closing power BI desktop?

Refresh sometimes won't make connection for me.

@tina345 interesting, I have never seen this, as matter of fact, I never worked with Oracle as the data source in Power BI. Not sure if the database is timing out, sorry I couldn't tell you anything more. I hope someone who is using a similar setup can provide more details.

Also, wondering if you use the same oracle connection from other applications (not sure which one), what happens if this is ideal for a few hours, do you see similar behavior? It will rule out if the issue with Power BI or something how Oracle connection works.

@tina345 not sure what you mean by when the connection is dead? Maybe click refresh and it will pull the latest data. Can you be more specific?

Apparantly when I refreshed multiple times, it worked for me.

I guess refresh should reconnect to database.
