Power BI Desktop Installation Fails

I am having no luck installing the latest version of Power BI Desktop.

I have downloaded PBIDesktopSetup_x64.exe from the appropriate MS Website.  When I attempt to run it, nothing happens.

Ithe cursor changes to the busy icon for a couple of seconds, and then stops, and I'm back to the normal cursor.

What I have tried:

Redownloading the file (twice).

Restarting the PC.

Running it with Admin Privs.

Making sure I have .Net 4.8 Advanced Services Installed and active.

Running it from the command line with a  -log "pbinstalllog.txt" flag.  (Not only did this not help, it didn't even create a log file that I could find.)

Downloading it from the MS Store.  (It downloaded, but then died during installation with an "unexpected error").

I'm at my wits end.  

Please help!

amigo tube the same tube error as downloading an old version of power bi to be able to use it

do you see anything in the event logs?

When I tried to create a log file (with the -log "xxxx.txt") during the install, no file was created.

I've tried looking there, but I really don't know what I'm looking for.  Nothing jumps out at me.  I just tried installing it a minute or so ago, just so I could look in the events in the last hour, but didn't see anything I could rel;ate to that.  Where should I look?

Okay, then there doesn't seem to be anything.

An error event during the installation period would have been helpful.
