Power BI Desktop Error: Unable to sign in Sorry, we encountered an error while trying to sign you in

I updated my version of Power BI Desktop to the latest version tonight.

Now I am experiencing the following error when I try to log in:

Unable to sign in

Sorry, we encountered an error while trying to sign you in. Details: An error occurred while sending the request.

I was not experiencing this issue prior to the update but I happen to need the latest version for a training class I'm taking on Monday so I updated it to be prepared.

I saw others that posted this issue but I did not see any resolution to it. 

I have logged in to Power BI Service and I am able to get in to Service just fine.

Please help, if you can.

Hi @torange ,

I would recommend you go to File -> Options and settings -> Options -> Diagnostics of Power BI desktop and click "enable tracing", and check the detailed logs in the traces folder.

Also please disable antivirus software and firewall on your machine to see whether issue persists. And check if any proxy settings prevent you from signing in.

If you still encounter this issue after trying above advice, please reinstall your desktop to check agian.
