Hi everyone,
i need to connect some free tables in visual foxpro with power bi.
I've tried with 64bit version, but there wasn't foxpro provider, so i've downloaded 32 bit version, but when i'm trying to create conncetion string with Build button, after i've selected foxpro provider, Power BI just close and i can't do anything.
What can i do?
Thank you.
Hello Maures,
I have found a workaround for this. Just ignore the "Build" button and write the connection string yourself. This works for me:
provider=VFPOLEDB.1;Data Source=C:\MyDataDirectory\;Collating Sequence=general;
In the next screen, after clicking OK, select "Default or Custom" and click Connect.
I use this method to connect to a Visual Foxpro database which is used by AccountView (Visma) software.
This has worked for me absolutely perfectly. I was trying to connect to SAI ERP and this worked for dbf files with fpt memos.
Many thanks, this community is awesome.
The best way to do it is using odbc 64-bits driver like this go.helpbi.com/dbf
Stop using Visual FoxPro.
i can't change tables of client!
any other idea?
Perhaps you could try the ODBC provider?

Along with convincing the customer that Visual FoxPro was discontinued almost a decade ago (October of this year) and that they really might want to consider migrating to SQL Server:
