Plotting dates on line chart

Hi, I want to achieve the below in Power BI. I tried the line chart and added Month to Axis and "Cat 1 Date" to Values and when I did that, PBI automatically counts the data values. Appreciate your help.

PS: I did this graph in excel and if 2 lines are not possible to be plotted, one line is fine too.

Thanks,

SN

Hi srikanthnama,

In power bi, the values in Y-axis should be aggregation value which is unlike that in Excel. Date value can't be operated by SUM() or MEDIAN(), only can be counted. That's why the date value is counted in your line chart.

Thanks for your response Jimmy.

I agree that this is the most common use case but we do have a  need to plot unaggregated data on y axis. We can do this in Tableau and even in PBI we can do this using ChartAccent custom viz (I ended up on this viz after doing further research)
