Play Axis slicer sort issue

Hi,

Is there any workaround for sorting in Play Axis (Dynamic Slicer) viusal.

I have a dataset of around 1 lakh rows where i have Timestamp column and an imageURL.

I want my users to see those images in Descending order fashion (Latest -> Earliest).

The intention is to create an Image slider kind of look and feel so i chose this visual. However, it always starts from Earliest record to Latest which defeats my purpose.

Kindly suggest any workarounds.

Edit 1: My dataset is connected live to Power BI Service so i cannot use Query Editor and "Sort by Column" feature.

Hi Prateek,

There is a workaround.

1. Sort the column by the order you want in the Query Editor.

2. Add an index column. Then Apply&close.

3. In the data view, select the column, click the function "Sort by column" in the ribbon, make the column sorted by the index.

You can try it in this file.

Hi @v-jiascu-msft,

Thank you for this solution. It is indeed a workaround to achieve this.

However, datasets which are connected live (Ex: Power BI Service) are barred to use Query Editor and even "Sort By Column" in the ribbon.

Unfortunately my report is connected to one of such data sets. Anyway, Thanks for this. It surely will come handy in future 🙂

Hi @prateekraina,

There is still a workaround. Maybe a few more steps needed. Set the "Sort By Column" in the original dataset. I have tested it successfully. Please give it a try.

BTW, Play Axis is supplied by the third party rather than MS. If you need more help (or features) about this visual, maybe you can go to here.
