Percentage field incorrectly totalling up to group, but group has its own percentage value?

Hi

I have a percentage field and then a grouping, but what it appears to be doing is totalling up the percentages for the group.

However the group should have its own percentage value

eg  this is what i want

Division  Department   Actual YTD     Budget       Actual/Budget(%)

Sales                             100000          200000        50

Sales      North                 1000               5000        20

Sales      South               99000           198000         50

but this is what i get

Division  Department   Actual YTD     Budget       Actual/Budget(%)

Sales                             100000          200000        70

Sales      North                 1000               5000        20

Sales      South               99000           198000         50

How can i stop it totalling the percentage for the grouping?

Mike

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi

I think i have solved this myself. I had a calculated field in the source table (SQL) which calculated the %age. But as the report is grouping up and totalling its totalled this too.

I think i need to create a measure in the report for this instead. will try that.

Hi @kolling,

I am not sure why you got the unexpected value 70 for Actual/Budget(%).

What does  your source table look like? Please share us the underlying data stored in table view.

What visualization did you use? Table visual?

Was below highlighted row the data row in source table? Or it was returned via some calculations?

Was below highligted field a calculated column or measure? Please provide its corresponding DAX formula.

For further analysis, please provide the reproduce steps so that I can test for you.

Hi @kolling,

Glad to hear that you have found the cause. If you have worked it out via re-creating a measure, it would be appreciated that you can share your solution and mark it as an answer. If you still have any question, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Yuliana Gu
