How do I count the number of items prior to a certain date?

I have a pass date coloum and need to count the number of items prior to the pass date.

Example:
PASS DATE

6/09/2018

I want to count the number prior to this date.

It is possible to count the number of items prior to the pass date, If my assumtion is not right, could you show some example date and how your dataset structure?

Assmue your table is like this

create a column

Column = CALCULATE(COUNT(Table1[item]),FILTER(ALL(Table1),[pass date]<=DATE(2018,6,9)))
