Parent Records without a match in child table do not display in Report Table

I have 2 data tables that are tied together by one key.

  • In table "Quality Events", Event ID is a unique one primary key.   There are no empty records or empty columns.
  • In table "All Event Actions", Event ID is a many Foreign Key.
  • In the report I have one matrix, and two tables.
    • The matrix is a summary count of events by owner.
    • The 1st  table displays the details of the Events records
    • The 2nd table displays te details of the Actions records
  • If I click on a value in the Matrix, the 2 tables show me the Event Details, and all of the Actions that are related to the filterd events.  It works great!  This is my first time using Power BI so I love this.

BUT, I found that if the Event does not have a related Action record then it will not show the Event.  Based on my MS Access experience, I think this may be a relationship issue.  In Access I could define my primary key and build the relationship with the condition "Show all records in parent table regardless if there are records in the child table".  I am wondering if this is the problem?  And how do I fix it?  I can not find this designation in Power BI.  Nor can I find where I identify which field I want the system to recognize as primary key?   Thoughts?

RESOLVED:  I found the Key Column in the Table Properties.  So I have identified the key for each table.  And to fix the issue with the report table not showing the event, I removed it and readded it now it seems to show the events regardless of whether there is a child or not.
