Paginated reports using SAP BW 4/HANA data source

Hi all,

I'm trying to do a research on Paginated reports using SAP BW app server/SAP Hana calculation views as datasources. There are Power BI connectors for connection to SAP BW, BPC, BW4/HANA (cubes/queries) & HANA (calculation views).

Despite its many limitations on functionality, these data sources can only be used with Power BI Desktop for creating dashboards and analytical reports (am I right?).

There aren't any SAP data sources in a list of supported data sources for Power BI paginated reports (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports-data-sources)

I have many doubts that Power BI can replace SAP front end tools for reporting (WebI, Analysis for Office, BEx). Could you share your experiences using Power BI on SAP datasource for creating well-formatted, standard reports?

Hi @Anonymous ,

You are right. For now, you need to connect the data sources into Power BI Desktop. It is not supported for Paginated reports.

I don't have the well-formatted, standard reports with SAP. Here are some videos that you can reference.

And there are some documents that maybe you need.

Hope these can help you.
