Paginated Report - NoRowsMessage not working on sub report

Hi Guys,

I have 2 reports, a sub report and a parent report.

On the sub report, I have a text box with some instructions for end users and a tablix. I have set the tablix property 'NoRowsMessage' so that when no data is returned, a message will be displayed. When I run the sub report on the report server, this works just fine.

When I run the parent report and when the sub report returns no rows, I only get a blank page. I can't even see the text box with instructions. It's just completely blank.

Any ideas?

Thank you @v-lionel-msft , indeed, NoRowsMessage does not work if you add the report as a sub-report. Once you add the report as a sub-report, you need to set the NoRowsMessage of the sub-report properties to get it working.

@JimJim - Font color the same as the background? That sounds odd.

Hi @Greg_Deckler , Thanks for replying.

When I run the sub-report on its own, the NoRowsMessage displays just fine, it only doesn't display when I run the master report. So I know it's not an issue with font colour.

I have another issue with the sub-report that may be related. On the sub-report I have set the InitialPageName property, this means that when a user exports the report to excel, the excel tab will display the report name. This works when I run the sub-report on its own but when I run the master report and export it to excel, the excel tab is named Sheet1.

Hi @JimJim ,

Please refer to the official tutorial.
