Page Background - image size to avoid/minimize Fit distortion

When creating images for Page Backgrounds in PBI Desktop (sticking to the default Page Size of 16:9), you might assume the required size is 1280 x 720px, as that is what shows when you change the Page Size from 16:9 to Custom.  However when you add an image that size, you will see a blank strip above and below the image.  It seems the actual PBI Page size is not 1280 x 720px?

FWIW, my guess is there are extra vertical pixels due to those pesky frames - notice when you position an object at X=0, Y=0, it is not at the absolute top of the page.

I've done a bit of trial and error, and the closest fit I can get is 1280 x 743px.  But does anyone know what the exact size should be (to mimize image distortion) for a background image when Page Size = "16 x 9"?

Hi @mike_honey,

After a few tests, the closet fit I can get is 1280 x 740px with the latest version of Power BI Desktop(2.53.4954.621 64-bit (December 2017)). Smiley Happy

I've done some more testing also.  I'm seeing blank whitespace below my background image up to 1280 x 750.  The whitespace disappears at 1280 x 760 which looks like the best fit.

I tried 1280 x 800 - I can see vertical whitespace start to appear to the right.
