PBI Report Builder / Paginated Report - Help in Building report

Dear Community,

I am a new user of PBI RB. I have already watched some (a lot) walkthroughs of PBI Report Builder, but still can't properly build my own paginated report.

An quick overview of the Datasource (an PBI Dataset in the Service):

I have 2 fact tables

  1. Calender (daily basis)
  2. Plant details (each plant is grouped by a portfolio)

and 3 data tables

  1. Daily data (per plant & day: two columns, let's call them QtyA & QtyB
  2. Monthly data (per plant & mth: sum of both QtyA&B and Target values (TgtA & TgtB)
  3. Incidents (per plant & incident: with start & end date and more columns with the incident details)

A quick overview of my goal with RB:

- Create a report where the user selects: Portfolio, Year and Month
- The report shall contain a Cover Page with some details for the whole portfolio at that month
- Each page of the report shall be regarding each plant
- In this pages, I need:
> Daily overview of both Qtys A&B
> Monthly KPIs (if Qtys reached Tgt)
> Month Incidents (where finish date is in that month or blank)
> Year overview: For the selected Year, show monthly gap to Tgt
- The last page shall be one page with only text: Definitions and description of the data

How did I build the report so far:

- Created 4 Datasets:
1. Daily (Portfolio, Plant, Year, Month, Day, Qty A&B) - Filtered by Portfolio, Year & Month Parameter
2. Month (Portfolio, Plant, Year, Month, Qty A&B, Tgt A&B) - Filtered by Portfolio & Year Parameter
3. Portfolios (Portfolio): For the Portfolio Parameter
4. Calender (Year, Month, Day, Date): For the Parameters Year & Month

- Tried to build the content pages (where each page is one Plant)
> I have set the Report dimensions to be A4 (21cm and 29,7cm)
> Same with Body dimensions
> In the Body, I created two "Lists":
1. First has Row Group: Daily(Plant): The list hast a table with daily Qtys
2. Second has Row Group: Month(Plant), filtered by Month Parameter: Has some Gauges with Qty vs Tgt

The result when I run the report for a portfolio with 2 Plants:

My Questions:

  • Is my data modelling apropriate? I tried to set everything in one Dataset, but it didn't make sense for me sincei t's different data
  • How to build one page per Plant with daily data, monthly data and Incidents data?
  • How to create an Cover Page contaning Name of Portfolio & some details?
  • How to build a last page of definitions & descriptions?

Hi, @Contezini

Sorry, your idea is difficult to simply implement in report builder. You need to set the length and width of every page, then start from the cover, to the main page, and the last page to complete the report. It will automatically change to the next page if it exceeds the length and width you defined.
