PBI Desktop DAX Measures Don't Save to Dataset

I have added several DAX measures on top of an on prem SSAS (Live) model connection.  When exploring in Analyze in Excel connected to published dashboard, the local measures cannot be found.   I tried connecting to the dataset in PBI Desktop, and confirmed the local measures do not save to the dataset.   Is this a limitation, bug, or setting which can be modified?

@EC1979 - Are you saying that the measures do not save back to the SSAS live data model? If that is what you are saying, that is correct. This is not a bug, this is how it works.

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

Hi Greg,

Thanks for prompt reply.   My understanding is that the .PBIX file contents is linked to the PBI Dataset.   If I add DAX Measures in .PBIX file, regardless of the datasources/connection type, I would expect that PBI Dataset contains the custom DAX Measures.   My intent is NOT to write back to the SSAS model; but I want to be able to enhance the SSAS data with additional custom calculations which can be accessed via Analyze in Excel or a PowerBI Dashboard connecting to my PBI Dataset.

Thanks, and Regards,

Evan
