On-Premise Data Gateway Stuck in Loading Loop

Hi guys,

I have been recently facing serious issues with on-premise data gateway.

 

When trying to schedule automatic refreshes for newly uploaded datasets, the on-premise data gateway keeps loading forever and eventually, never loads. I just see the rotating dots.

Any idea what could be wrong? This started happening only recently (say for the past 2 weeks). I was able to setup scheduling without any issues not long time ago.

 

I noticed that:

1. When one of the sources does not support the automated refresh, then "yellow error" is thrown immediately on the scheduling setup page as usual.
2 When the automated refresh is available for the uploaded datasets, no error is thrown and the gateway "just" keeps loading forever.

This issue is back again, I am running several refreshes and once I open gateway connection it just keeps spining and it will not open.

Some updates are failing but I cannot get into the gateway to fix the issue. Is this a bug? it started 2 days ago.

I don't remember since it's so old.. I guess the issue just went away as most of the PBI issues...

Hello there,

 

same issue for me, I think nothing much changed, and other Dashboards are running fine.

I don't get why it is only some Dashboards not working.

Besides that, my gateway is perfectly fine and all connections are successfull !

Please help.

As mentioned in one of the previous posts, the gateway would not load when you have append or merge function used in your dataset...

 

For me, that's like 90% of datasets.

alright thanks for your help, I will get back to my specialist and double-check that.

Is it a bug in PowerBI?

Do you change your dashboards in the meantime?

What I do, is to refresh them manually 🙂

Looks like a bug but not ofificial comment from MFST has arrived yet.

 

I am also refreshing everything manually now, which is horrible process.

I switched temporarily to Personal mode, it works fine. It is still a terrible solution.

So no word from Microsoft? How about admin @JonL?

Update from my side : I raised a ticket and in the meantime ,there was a small change :

- there is no loading symbol anymore (that keeps rolling and rolling)

- I land in the settings for Dashboards instead, however this message is displayed : You don't have any gateway installed or configured for the data sources in this dataset. Please install a new data gateway, or configure the data source for an existing data gateway.

 

I did not change any data source. They are still the same and some other reports are still detecting my gateway.

I created a new report with the same sources and the gateway is OK.  I have no idea why it doesn't work.

Hmmm, wierd. I really dont want to go through recreating all my reports 😞

Based on testing, this happens if the report contains Merge/Append querries.

Hmm... All my reports contain these...

Anyone from PowerBI team? This issue is making PBI unusable.
