OLE DB or ODBC error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E4E. An unexpected exception occurred.

Hello,

I'm facing the following error "OLE DB or ODBC error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E4E. An unexpected exception occurred.", when I try to refresh the dataset in the Power BI Desktop.

Note :

1. It is working fine(refreshing) in the Query editor.

2. When I change the parameter to other environments, refresh is working fine.

Any ideas about what is going on and how to address this?

Thanks,

Naveen

Hi @NaveenMohan ,

According to your description, it seems you are using Power Query parameters on server name and database name. Please make sure the applied server name and database name are correct. You can refer the following blogs to change the data source dynamically using query parameters...

Initially, the date appeared like a whole number and not like a date (what they were). What worked for me was changing the datatype to date from Power Query, and not from columns tools in Power BI.
Hope it help someone.
