OLE DB or ODBC error: AnalysisServices Request Timed out

Hello,

when processing query for our SSAS I keep getting message from PBI Desktop:

OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] AnalysisServices: XML for Analysis parser: The XML for Analysis request timed out before it was completed.

The database is multidimensional with more than 50 milions rows. The query should cover about roughly 20 milion rows.

SQL Server is version 2012, SSAS setting for Timeouts is following:

CommitTimeout = 0

ForceCommitTimeout =30000

ExternalCommandTimeout = 50000

Is there any solution to this problem except partitioning the database?

Solution in parameter ServerTimeout in server properties
also ExternalCommandTimeout must be increase

Have you tried the SQL server profiler ?

If not , then please take a look at the profiler trace, see if we could find something helpful there:

Use SQL Server Profiler to Monitor Analysis Services

In addition, I will try to find someone who is familar with this to take a further look at this. I will post back if we have any conclusions on this topic.
