Not sure about what I am counting

Hi

I've created a measure, but I'm unsure if I'm understanding correctly it's working.

In the following measure, in the Return statement, I'm Calling a [CustomerID] field. But I to use the CustomerID Field from the grouped table called "GroupedTable".

The Dax autocomplete ony allows me to use [CustomerID] or 'Table1'[CustomerID].. Are this the same, and both comes from the grouped table? or not?

Test2 =
Var GroupedTable = SUMMARIZE (
        'Table1';
        'Table1' [CustomerID];
        "ValidMail";MAX('Table1' [ValidEmail])
    )
Return
COUNTX(GroupedTable;[CustomerID])

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

What you have counted is the summarize of CustomerID which is not repeated in a variable called 'GroupedTable'

In the expression, [CustomerID] and 'Table1'[CustomerID] are not the same, [CustomerID] is used as an expression while 'Table1'[CustomerID] is used as a column.

About the grammar if summarize and countx, you can refer:

  2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/countx-function-dax

You care counting the CustomerID in the GroupedTable variable. As such, you have a count of unique customer ID's because you are summarizing by CustomerID.
