New Table, FIRSTDATE and DISTINCT strange results

Hi,

I have a table with a column with the same date in each row (22nd January 2018).

I wish to use this date in a DAX formula, so am trying to have the date represented in a table of its own, so, I have created a new table and used the following DAX expression:

Metrics Date = FIRSTDATE(Table1[Metrics Date].[Date])

This returns the date '1/1/2018 00:00:00', which was obviously not the desired result.

If I use the Distinct DAX function:

Metrics Date = DISTINCT(Table1[Metrics Date].[Date])

I get the full year return (365 rows), where I was only expecting a single row of '22/01/2018 00:00:00'

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have resolved my own issue here.

Basically, I removed the .[Date] from the end of the DAX for each column i.e.

Metrics Date = FIRSTDATE(Table1[Metrics Date])

 This worked perfectly
