Hi all,
My name is Thomas, I discovered PBI lately and am deploying it in the company I work for.
I am really enthousiastic about the tool 😉
I first used the Desktop version to hoover the "Power" of PBI.
Now I have convinced my management that would it be a great tool to use.
My current setup is 2 Pro licenses, basically for me developping Dashboards and Reports and one user, as a start, to consume the content.
I do not have yet the knowledge to get a possible real-time solution (I have automated queries schedule from mySQL (hosted) database to Excel files to retrieve my first data.
I hope to talk to you soon and my first wanted help will probably be about best practice...
Like this one 😉
I have a table with a Currency list & exchange rates (simplified) as follow:
currency_id iso_code rate
1 EUR 1.00
2 USD 1.1699
3 JPY 127.3300
I would like to define the exchange rates from and to any currency to get it available in any report in my workspace.
What is best ?
Should I try to define a parameter, to create a new measure or anything else ? What kind of DAX functrion would you recommend ?
That's it folks !
Thank you in advance
Hmm, would need to understand more about the use case here. Please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490
Seems like a DAX measure would be the way to go here but can't be certain. You also might need to essentially duplicate your iso_code column in another table so that you can pick a "from" currency and a "to" currency, but tough to say without more information.
Hi Greg,
Thanks for your answer. I am heading to https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490 right away 😉
Talk to you soon.
