Nested/Grouped Horizontal Bar Chart

I am trying to represent an overall ranking summary with ranked sub-categories.

Is there anything like this available as a Powerr BI Visual?

Thanks in advance.

OK, that makes sense.  However, my experience with overlayed charts has never been successful.

Inevitably, data variance over time leads to inconsistent scaling between the overlayed charts and they become visually out of sync.

Accepted solution: My solution will be the development of a custom visual to natively generate the desired graphical output.

Hi @Anonymous ,

What about the clustered bar chart in power bi?

If it is convenient, could you share your data sample which could reproduce your scenario and your desired output so that we could help further on it?

Best Regards,

Cherry

The nested bar chart does not group the detailed rankings within the overall, so visually, it does not tell the desired story.

A sample of the data is:

I also have available, a version with the last 2 columns unpivoted, providing a single row for each team/period with all 4 rank values.

@mussaenda This has been the closest existing visual I have been able to find.  However, it does not provide the nested visualization.  Additionally, I need to invert the x-axis to reflect longer bars for smaller ordinal ranking values.

I am starting to develop a custom visual to meet my needs, but it is a time-consuming process.

You can put more than one column on your axis to drill down.

If this is what you mean by nested visualization.

It has nothing to do with data drill-down.

Nesting is related to the overlapping of subcategory bars within a larger overall bar.

Oh I did not notice that, apologies.

Take a look at this:

Much closer to what I'm looking for.  How is this done?

@Anonymous,

They are two Clustered Charts with same configurations.

Only difference, one has legend and the other one has none.

Then fit them together.

What do you mean by fit them together?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I'm a little confused about your data sample.

From your sample data, I cannot see the values in your desired output.

If it is convenient, could you share more details?

@v-piga-msft That image is not a representation of my data.  It is an example of the type of visual I look to create with my data.
(Larger overall ranking bar with nested subcategories and thteir respective rankings).
My data contains dynamically calculated overall rankings, plus subcategory rankings.
