I have two tables linked by the date key and I need help getting running totals per day of subscriptions for a column chart. Here are my tables. Any help is appreciated!

Based on your description, I modified your sample data a little and did a test. Here are my test tables.
You could create a relationship betwwen two tables.
Then you could create a stacked column chart.
Result:

If you are using a date table and want running totals, depending on the granularity of the calculation you can do it using the timeintelligence functions:
MTD = TOTALMTD ( SUM(Table[subscription_count]), DateTable[date_key])
QTD = TOTALQTD ( SUM(Table[subscription_count]), DateTable[date_key])
YTD = TOTALYTD ( SUM(Table[subscription_count]), DateTable[date_key])
