Hello community ,
I have a query with one of the concepts of Power BI and your help would be highly appreciated. I have seen some of the similar posts in community and other sources and unfortunately I couldn't find exact solution.
I'm trying to create a hierarchy for BOM. There's an issue with data where some parents(Material) are not in the column of child(component) and vice versa. Hence, I couldn't use PATH function or DAX.
This is my sample data. I'm trying to create hierarchy between material and child which goes to a multilevel hierarchy.
The hierarchy is material -> component=material -> component(sub-component)......
Example for reference
material 11074869 has one of the components 11060815, which again becomes a material for component 1105819 and to next level.
Could you please help me with a solution for it.
Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous
Could you tell me how much level do you need in your hierachy slicer?
If you only need 4 levels in your hierachy, you can use merge function in power query.(left outer merge the last column with Material column)
My Sample data:
My slicer table:
Slicers:
From your statement, it seems that you need dynamic lists in your hierachy slicer.
Your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to implement in Power BI currently.
You can vote up this idea for this function:Use Measures in all areas of Charts and Slicers
Or you can submit a new idea to improve the Power BI.
It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
