Is it possible to color font the metric "kpi name 1" in certain color and "kpi name 2" in a different one.
The table col "metric" goes under Rows in Matrix visual.

By my tests and research, you could set like below in matrix.
You need turn on the option Banded row style under Value then you could set that.

I have a solution for you.
1. Use "Table" visual instead of "Matrix" visual
2. Create a new column KPI METRIC COLOR = IF( METRIC = "kpi name 1" , 1 , 0 )
3. > Select font color conditional formatting for METRIC Column.
> Format by Rules
> Based on field KPI METRIC COLOR
> RULE 1 : If value is 1 then "Red"
> RULE 2: If value is 0 then "Green"
That should work.
