Moving 6 month average, large data set

Hi folks,

I'm working with the output of our firm's ticketing system and trying to find an average monthly throughput (tickets closed) for each department using the previous 6 months.

How can I set this up to calculate correctly? The relevant fields are:

  • STATE (i.e., "CLOSED")
  • DATE_CLOSED
  • FUNCTION (i.e., seven separate processing departments)

Output should be a bar graph with one bar for each department, showing each department's 6-month average of tickets closed per month.

You need to use the following. For 6 month date range

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/datesinperiod-function-dax

Create function department wise

https://powerpivotpro.com/2013/03/hasonevalue-vs-isfiltered-vs-hasonefilter/

Formula like these.

Rolling 6 = CALCULATE(sum(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESINPERIOD('Date'[Date],ENDOFMONTH(Sales[Sales Date]),-6,Month))
Rolling 6 = CALCULATE(sum(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESINPERIOD('Date'[Date],max(Sales[Sales Date]),-6,Month))

Can you share sample data and sample output. If possible please share a sample pbix file after removing sensitive information.Thanks.
To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s.
