I have several PowerBI reports that pull from one SQL View. Some of the reports also pull from other data sets as well. Our thought was to publish the SQL view a "master" dataset and then build all our other reports off that dataset. Works great for the reports that just pull from the dataset (pull from Power BI datasets in the desktop app) but for the other reports I can't add any additional data sources. How come?
actually you can with the december update theres a new feature called direct query for power bi datasets that let you change the live conection type to a direct or import conection type and get multiple source on the same file even having a live conection dataset on it (you change the live type for a direct query type).
