Monthly Totals

So I have two formulas from two different datasets that I'm trying to simultaneously display on a line graph. One formula works as intended on gathering the monthly total which is this formula:

1.PNG

The formula that isn't working as intended is this one:

1.PNG

It shows the sum total of all cases over the years rather than the number of cases that were created in a particular month:

1.PNGHow can I go about getting the monthly total? And also, how would I go about setting up a shared axis? The values are really spread out and I'd like to show some kind of a relationship between the two rather than the active client count be a flat line. Thanks!

If you are using month on your axis, then it should just be:

Case Count = COUNT('Case'[CaseNumber])

To get the cases each month. Your formula is essentially a running total.
