Hi all, I'm working in a Report and I would like to use the Slicer to view data by Month.
The data comes in a by day basis and when I try to use the Slicer Visualization I only get Year 2016 of if I click by date I will get all the individual dates in the Slicer.
What I want to have in the Slicer is the following:
Date
January
February
March
...
How can I do this in the Slicer?
Thanks in advance for your help.

@Mega79 power bi default slicer currently doesn't support date hierarchy. only few visuals support date hierarchy. you should use custom visual called hierarchy slicer to have date hierarchy from your date column.

You can create another two columns with following two formulas.
Month = MONTH( Table1[Date] )
MonthName = FORMAT( Table1[Date], "mmmm" )
Then select the MonthName column and make it sorted by Month column as below.
Select MonthName for the slicer.
Best Regards,
Herbert
This was my solution for awhile, now I need to have multiple years on my report and sorting by the generic name of the month will combine multiple years. How do we get around that?
Looked so many places for this solution. Bravo!

You've already posted this in this thread. Waste of bandwidth to continuously post the same thing over and over again. If you in fact have a solution, and your solution is clear, there's no reason to post redundantly. If you feel the need to post redundantly, then your explanation or solution needs work. Go back to the drawing board to make it clearer.
You posted the same thing in the same place on the same day. Insanity.
I've experienced a similar issued with the timeline slicer visual.
The fact it can't handle a date hierarchy properly is really disappointing
