Hi,
I am new to power BI but have seen this question raised a lot of time but none with a proper answer.
I need to a slicer for date but i only date month and year.
I dont want to use timeline as there is not enough space. I have tried using hierarchy, that's the closed thing i have got at the moment but i would like something with two dropdowns containing month and year for range. Can someone can guide me how to do that.
In addition to the above I would like the default selection of the range to the last year e.g. if i run the report today it should default me to Nov 2017 - Nov 2018
Thanks
Hi talha_ts,
Have your tried hierarchy slicer? Could you clarify more details about your requirement?

Jimmy Tao
Hi,
Yes I have tried heirarchy slicer and thats the nearest I could get to but the actual requirement is to have two dropdowns with from and to date and the date format to be year and month.
Not sure why the default date range slicer doesnt give a functionality to format by year and month
In addition to the above i need the last year to be selected by default.
Thanks
Hi talha_ts,
To achieve the default slicer value, I would recommend you to refer to this similar thread: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Default-value-in-Report-Filter-Panel/td-p/47574.

Thanks for the response, the post you have mentioned is not exactly what i wanted but the good thing is that the requirement has changed and I can have all options selected which will work for me.
Thanks for the support anyway.
