Mesure don't accept change of a column from text to figures

I'm a beginner and have the problem, that I had to search / replace ":" in a data column (a sign for no data available). Now I was able to convert text into figures. For the report it works.

No I created a measure to be able to use the data basis in Excel as well (Measure_Test = ALL(MyTable[Value]), but the measure shows the [Value]column still as text.

Who can help me (I'm a beginner), thanks in advance

If you can't convert the column of numbers into a "decimal" or "whole number" data type, it will give you an error about what is "wrong" w/ the data (like the : issues) and you will need to resolve them.

Once you CAN convert it to a number, try a measure like:

  Total = SUM(MyTable[Value])

which should return the sum.   Your test measure isn't valid (ALL returns a table, measures need to return single values)

If your values contains “:” in them, you can search and replace using the “Replace Values” function.

Once the values have the number format, you can change the data type from Text to number types.

Now you should be able to create a measure using Standard Aggregation Functions.

Thanks a lot - this was what I've done, now I changed the measure to "Sum"

and I found another "beginner" mistake - by connecting Excel to Power BI I've selected in the Power-Pivot-Table the [Value] from the table instead the "Measure" for all my values - now I changed this and it works perfectly.

Thanks again Smiley Happy
