Hello I have tables I need to join based on a username.
1 table is the main table with all the information (queried from sql database), and the other table (created via entering data) is just to get the first names of 7 people, all other people will show up as null, which I change over to others.
I merged the tables on a full outer.
One user in particular, cxxx (Christine), is in both tables, all lowercase. In the main table, it shows up with the name Christine for some rows, but for in some cases it shows up at "Others", not "Christine". Why is it showing as both ways when the two values match exactly in each table? I am starting to question if I am merging correctly or not.
In the tables themselves, I can combine them and use =related(), and I get Christine every time.
Due to the data being confidential, I cannot share the data.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Does that make sense? If so, kindly mark my answer as a solution to help others having the similar issue and close the case. If not, let me know and I'll try to help you further.
Best regards
Amy
Hi @Anonymous ,
You may check if there are some spaces beside the "Christine", like " Christine" or "Christine ".

Amy

I already checked and there wasn't. The user name is being pulled from the database as cxxx, in my table I have cxxx. But it only matches to cxxx from the database sometimes.
Hi @Anonymous ,
You may check your database original values.
For the Merge feature, you can refer to the blog : https://radacad.com/append-vs-merge-in-power-bi-and-power-query.

I had previously looked at that link.
This is what I have:
cxxx - Christine
cxxx - null
cxxx - Christine
After mergining cxx is the same value, no spaces or caps.
But if I related the tables and use =RELATED(Names), I getL
cxxx - Christine
cxxx - Christine
cxxx - Christine
Does this make sense?
