Members in Premium Workspace can't view report

Hi,

I have added around 50 members to the group and most of them don't have Power BI Pro License.

Why they can't view the reports that published in the Premium workspace?

Do we need to grant access to the 50 members for each published report?

Thanks.

No, but you need to give them the App link first.  Only after they have "installed"  the app will they be able to see the reports and dashboards in that premium workspace.

Do not give them access to the workspace directly even though it is technically possible via the Viewer role.  Access to the workspace is generally reserved for developers and ITG testers.

I agree you should share it as an App (vs sharing the Workspace), but you will need to grant them permission to the App so it will be visible to them in the App search to "Get It Now".

If this works for you, please mark it as the solution.  Kudos are appreciated too.  Please let me know if not.

Pat

Hi @mahoneypat , thanks!

Do we need to grant access to each member in the group one by one as there are 50+ members?

You can use a distribution list to grant access too, including O365 groups.  From what I've seen, when you add/remove people to the group, it will update the App permission the next time it refreshes.

Regards,

Pat

So what's the purpose of adding members to the Premium workspace?

Do I need to add them to the Premium workspace before granting access to them for the App?

You should only add a small list of co-developers and testers as Premium workspace members. Regular report users should only be given access to the app, not its workspace.

that's different from my experience. PDL/Group membership is not linked to dataset refreshes.

You need to re-publish the app when you change the app permission scope (adding/removing individuals or PDLs), but that's a different topic.
