Mash direct query with excel

Created direct query to SQL, added excel reference table and created relationship.

Both files loaded on "always on" server and model published to PowerBI for users to view. However, when published, errors on all graphs with direct query and excel built. How do I successfully mash excel with direct query data?

Hi @HCZ ,

Assuming that was not configured correctly, click the “Learn more” link to see how the configuration must be done.

You need to add data source first in gateway settings and configure the schedule refresh.

To configure scheduled refresh, you can refer to these documents:

Refresh data from an on-premises SQL Server database

Manage data sources

Manage your data source - Import/scheduled refresh

Configure scheduled refresh

Liang
