March '18 feature - improved visual placement

Regarding the "improved visual placement" for the March PBI update, this does not appear to apply to visuals that are copied for other reports. For example, i just copied a slicer from a report that has a custom page size and when I attempt to past this slicer in a new report, the visual is placed outside of the 16:9 page size.

What is the best way to communicate this to the developer?

Hi @Joerobert,

"improved visual placement" means We’ve made some improvements to where we are placing visuals by default when you create them. You should notice that the automatic placement is now more logical and does a better job of filling in gaps that are available around already existing visuals.

Reference: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-march-2018-feature-summary/

This feature doesn't mean that we can copy a visual from one report and paste it into another report. As I know currently it is not supported to copy and paste between different pbix files.

And there already exists an Idea for it: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/14114169-allow-copy-and-paste-bet.... You can vote it up.

Thanks,
Xi Jin.

Thank you for your feedback and sharing the URL link for the PBI idea. I will submit a vote towards this idea since I am also in favor of copying/paste visuals between pbix files. I tend to work with the same data model, but but create duplicate pbix files so this feature will be benefical.

Regarding improved visual placement, i still believe that there is work needed for make this feature more efficient and not limit this feature to only apply towards default loads from the visualization panel.
