MapBox visual deprecating?

Hi,

I get a warning when opening the MapBox visual that it will be deprecated. Can anyone confirm this?

I spent weeks searching for the shapefiles and customising them to have a drill down experience when using the map.

The answer I got from Mapbox:
Hi,

Thanks for writing in and choosing Mapbox for your mapping needs. We have some exciting updates that will be occurring with the Mapbox and Power BI integration.

Over the past few weeks, you may have received a notification Visual is not supported and will be deprecated.... Please disregard this message as it does not accurately reflect the status or future plans of the Mapbox Visual for Power BI. Microsoft has removed this notification as of this week.

We want to clarify that the Power BI integration is not being deprecated. We are actively working with a trusted partner to ensure the maintenance and ongoing improvement of this integration so it continues to serve our customers in the long run. We will have more details to share in the near future.

In the meantime, for any questions or issues you have regarding Power BI and Mapbox, we recommend you either create an issue in our open source repository or ask your question on Stack Overflow or the Power BI forums to get help from others who may have experienced a similar issue.

I also got same message. Is there another good alternative with map tile feature?Shape map is worse in performance.

Hi,

I get that message too 😞

How did you solve this?

Hi @yafit ,

I haven´t solved it. Just as Evogelpohl commented I hope it´s just returning this message because they need to update something. Because right now there isn´t a good alternative if you want to use your own shapefiles and with a drill down option.

I hope that someone of the PowerBI team or from MapBox could confirm if we have to look for alternatives.

Just got the same error today.

My guess is that this is a default error when a visual is a bit older than the current standard for using Powerbi's internal bits - perhaps a render engine feature that's been updated, but the visual is still calling an old component...

Totally a guess on my part... I sure hope Microsoft doesn't force the Azure Maps visual as a replacement - it's far too limiting compared to MapBox's.

Any Update on this?
