Manually creating a date hierarchy (same as "auto date/time" without the associated problems)

Common advice is to avoid "auto date/time" because it can bloat a model

However, afaik it's not commonly known how to manually replicate what the automatic feature does, so that you get the same outcome (a date hierarchy) but selectively for the data fields you want

It's hard to figure out but easy to do with Tabular Editor, and I wondered whether it would be useful for other people - in which case, I'd write it up

Let me know in the comments / thumbs up and I'll follow up if so

@charliedata , I think for that you have to create a date column like year, month qtr, and create a custom hierarchy. Based on what I got

Year = Year([Date])

Month = Month([Date])

Day = Day([Date])

refer how to create

Custom Hierarchy

These are the reasons Date Hierarchy can be missing
