Make local copy of datasource

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to make a “local” copy of a report I’ve made for a client on my own services. The datasource is based only on dataflows from the clients services (9 tables in total). What I want to do is as effortlessly as possible to somehow “realise” a small fraction of the datasource tables from the client services to be downloaded locally, then upload this to my own services. Preferably, I want to be able to open and anonymise the content.

So far, the only thing I have come up with is to make local copies of all the tables in csv format or such, then redirect the query, but surely there must be an easier way?

Thanks in advanced!

Hi @johannessae

I think your idea to make local copies of all the tables in csv format is doable. Not sure if you want to export data from dataflows. If you want to do that, you can use an external tool Dax Studio in Power BI Desktop to export data into CSV files. Then use these files in your own report.

Thanks for your replay @v-jingzhang   I know that the solution I suggested works to solve this, however, the problem is that it is very time consuming. I'll make sure to test out your tool as a full export of all data sources in the model to csv files would speed thing up(especially if it removes columns calculations, as these needs to be removed before reimporting the data tables). However, I'm still looking for a more elegant solution.
