Loops,Fan Traps and chasm Traps

Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone has faced Loops, Fan Traps or  chasm Traps like in we have in  "SAP Business objects "modeling. Do we face such kind of issues in Power BI Modelling? If we encounter a scenario, how do we resolve it?

@v-chg ,

@v-juanli-msft

Thanks,

Aditya

HI @Anonymous ,

Do you means circular dependency ? If this is a case, current power bi not allow you to create circular dependency fields.  When power bi recognize this type of calculation, it will display error message and skip calculate on these parts.

No not circular dependency.

circular dependency: A Dependency when one measure is interdependent on each other.

Chasm Traps :  Def : https://documentation.sisense.com/latest/managing-data/working-with-data/chasm-fan-traps.htm#gsc.tab...

I am talking in a scenario where the join of 3 tables  in modeling results in more records, as we have in SAP Universe.

Aditya

HI @Anonymous ,

In my opinion, I think bridge table should suitable for your requirement to achieve fan traps and chasm traps:
